Troubleshoot EasyPrompter scripts, displays, and connections
Fix a Script That Won't Save
- Check your internet connection — on Free plan you must be online to save. Paid plans save locally when offline and sync when you reconnect.
- If on Free plan, check if this script is over your 2-script limit (read-only scripts can't save)
- Check you have edit access (not view-only)
- Try clicking Save manually
- Clear your browser cache and try again
Fix a Teleprompter That Won't Load
- Make sure the script has content — empty scripts can't load
- If on Free plan, check if the script is over-limit (blocked from teleprompter)
- Try disabling browser extensions
- Use a modern browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari
Apply an Available App Update Safely
When Update Available appears above your profile in the sidebar, the new version is downloaded but does not take over automatically. Finish the current take and wait for any Saving... indicator to complete, then choose Reload Now. EasyPrompter activates the update and reloads after it is ready.
Choose Later if you are actively prompting or editing and want to keep the current version running. In the collapsed sidebar, selecting the refresh icon applies the update immediately.
Fix Multi-Screen Sync Issues
- Make sure all devices are online
- Verify all devices joined the same session
- Try leaving and rejoining the session
- Only the operator device can control playback — check you're on the right one
- If the viewer stays on an old script after the operator switches, reconnect the session
If a script switch is interrupted by a temporary connection loss, EasyPrompter retries it when the operator browser comes back online. Local-only displays can switch scripts without an internet connection.
Resolve a Failed Payment
Personal subscribers and active Studio workspace Admins can select Update payment method from the persistent payment warning to open Stripe billing. Other Studio members should contact a workspace Admin. The warning clears after Stripe confirms recovery and EasyPrompter refreshes the billing account.
OBS Source Is Blank or Shows Offline
A blank OBS Browser Source can be the correct idle state:
- Ready in Settings means the Browser Source is connected and waiting with fully transparent output.
- Online means it is connected to an active prompting session.
- Offline means OBS has closed the Browser Source or the source is not connected.
If a managed source remains Offline, select its key button in Settings → Connected Displays, copy the complete one-time connection link, and replace the Browser Source URL in OBS. Use the complete link instead of entering its code on the network display page. Create a new link if the old one expired.
If the source is Ready but stays blank after prompting starts, refresh the Browser Source once. EasyPrompter hides stale text and visible error screens from broadcast output, so a rejected connection or capture error becomes transparent while automatic recovery is attempted.
Viewer Won't Enter Fullscreen
Some mobile browsers, including iPad, iPhone, and some Android browsers, require the viewer to tap before entering fullscreen. When Tap to Enter Fullscreen appears, tap it directly. Tapping outside the message cancels fullscreen and resets the operator's control.
Offline Edits Didn't Sync
When you reconnect after editing offline, EasyPrompter asks which copy to keep if someone also changed the script online. Choose Your Copy on This Device or the Latest Online Copy. Check Settings → Preferences → Offline Storage if your changes have not saved online.
Fix Payment Issues
- Go to Settings → Billing → Manage Billing to update your payment method (opens Stripe)
- Check your email for payment failure notifications
- There's a grace period before access is suspended
- Contact support if issues persist
Common Permission Errors
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Can't create scripts | Free plan: 2 script limit. Talent role: can't create. |
| Can't edit a script | You may have view-only access. Over-limit scripts are read-only. |
| Can't invite members | Requires Studio plan. Only Admin/Producer can invite. |
| Can't use teleprompter | Over-limit scripts are blocked on Free plan. |
| Role changed but the page looks the same | Refresh the page or switch tabs and back. Access changes immediately, and the page updates on its next load. |
Install as an App
For the best experience, install EasyPrompter as an app: iOS — Share → Add to Home Screen. Android — Menu → Install app.
Why Was I Logged Out?
Sessions stay alive as long as you use EasyPrompter at least once every 7 days — each visit automatically extends your session. Common reasons for an unexpected logout:
- Inactivity: You didn't open EasyPrompter in any tab for more than 7 days. Background or minimized tabs don't count — the tab must be visible.
- Password change: Changing your password immediately signs out all other devices.
- Cleared cookies: Clearing your browser data removes session cookies.
- Offline too long: If your device was offline for 7+ days, the session couldn't be extended even if a tab was open.
To recover, simply sign in again — all your scripts and data are intact.
Can't Sign Back In
"Your session expired. Please try again." This is recoverable, not a lockout. A sign-in session is single-use and short-lived, so it lapses if a passkey prompt is dismissed or the password field sits open for a few minutes. A fresh session is issued along with the message, so entering your password again works. Reloading the page also always starts a clean attempt.
"Too many attempts." The limit is 10 attempts per 15 minutes, and it counts against your email address, not your device or network. Two things follow that are easy to misread:
- Colleagues on one office or campus connection do not consume each other's attempts. Being blocked means attempts on your address, wherever they came from.
- Each sign-in method is counted separately. A dismissed passkey prompt or a wrong six-digit code does not spend password attempts.
A successful sign-in clears the count, so a couple of mistyped passwords never carry into your next sign-in. If you are blocked and cannot wait out the 15 minutes, contact support: they can clear the limit on your address right away.
Report a Translation Problem
EasyPrompter is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, German, and French. While signed in, open the language menu and select Report issue to send a correction. Include the incorrect text and what you expected it to say. The report automatically identifies the current language and page.
